Arequipa Full day

The Region of Arequipa is characterized for having the deepest canyons in Peru, as it is the Colca (3400 meters of depth/11512 feet of depth) and Cotahuasi (3535 meters of depth/11598 feet of depth). Colca comes from the Quechua word for " granero" or storehouse. The canyon is carved by the by the Colca river and its length is covered with hundreds pre-Hispanic and Hispanic terraces.

FIRST DAY: - Arequipa

In the evening we visit the Main Square, the Cathedral, convents, churches and beautiful vaults of the church Company of Jesus, in the colonial district of Yanahuara, with a magnificent view of Misti volcano. Next, we are going to visit Saint Catherine monastery, considered as unique of its kind in South America. It was founded in 1580 and opened to the public in 1970. It has narrow plazas and gardens with Spanish names that remains us the old districts of Seville and Granada in Spain.
