Salkantay 5 days

First Day

We will pick you up at your hotel between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m.

Departure 5.15 a.m. in a public bus towards Mollepata, located at an altitude of 2,850 m.a.s.l, through Andean zone, we will continue our trip by bus until Soraypampa (3800 masl, we will walk for about 2 hours until lunch time, to then continue for 4 more hours until our camp site.

Second Day

The dawn is impressive, since once we get up we will see the majestic Salkantay, approximately around 7:00 am we will have breakfast to continue with our trip which will last 7 to 8 hours, during which we will find the difference among the altitudinal floors, we enter in a kind of canyon which will lead us to the skirts of Salkantay, after three hours walking we will have lunch. Then, we will ascend until a cove to then descend to the edge of the jungle. We will arrive to CHALLHUAY this day, where we will sleep.

Third Day

It is a new day so we will have a new landscape with new temperature, from here warm weather begins. After lunch we will continue through the valley bottom where we will be able to watch a variety of birds, mammals, insects, and other kinds of animals. We also will observe the way of living of the settlers on this zone and enjoy the hot springs of Cocalpampa, as well as the waterfalls of Waynapoco, if we have enough time.

Later, we will continue walking for about 4 to 6 hours before lunch , after which we will take the bus towards Santa Teresa (truck or minibus) where we will spend overnight

Fourth Day

After getting up and breakfast we will continue until Hydroelectric town where we will stop to lunch, after that we will continue walking along the railway until Aguas Calientes where we will rest in a hostal, of course, after we have had dinner prepared by our cook.

Fifth Day

This day is the great day to visit the Historical Sanctuary of MACHUPICCHU. To get there we start to ascend at 6:00 a.m. until we reach MACHUPICCHU where you will have a guided visit.

It Included:

  • Entrance ticket to Machupicchu.
  • Return train to Aguas Calientes-Ollantaytambo and from there return bus to Cusco (it will depend of free disposal at PERURAIL company).

  • Tents.

  • Dinning tent/ kitchen.
