Location: Coast and sierra (Andes) at the south of Peru.
Area: 24 458 Sq miles.
Capital: Arequipa (7660 feet above sea level)
The lowest altitude: 30 feet above sea level (Punta de Bombón)
The highest altitude: 16,110 feet above sea level (Mirador de Volcanes - Caylloma)
Climate: Annual average temperature is of 68 ºF (the highest altitude of 104 ºF and the lowest one of 39.2 ºF). The rainy season starts on December and it lasts until March.

How to get to Arequipa?
By air: Daily flights from Lima - Arequipa (50 minutes approx)
Cusco – Arequipa (30 minutes approx)
Juliaca – Arequipa (30 minutes approx)
Tacna – Arequipa (30 minutes approx)

By land:
From Lima – Arequipa, 1003 km through the road Panamericana sur (14 hours by car approx). For tourists that go to Cusco by land, the rout is 279 miles, (10 hours by car approx).

Imagen 2The valley is studded with 14 towns rich in tradition and which have preserved their original religious festivities and folk art and music. The surrounding landscape includes the Hualca-Hualca, Ampato and Sabancaya volcanoes.

The highest point is the Cruz del Condor lookout spot, where visitors will enjoy an unforgettable experience of seeing condors in their natural habitat. It is recommended to take 2 days for this excursion, staying overnight at Chivay (3660 meters / 12,008 feet).

ITINERARY:

Day 1 Lima – Arequipa

Transfer to Lima International Airport. Arrive in Arequipa, reception and transfer to your Hotel.

Imagen 2After Breakfast. We leave for the Colca Valley, taking the road that ascends and border the outskirts of the Chachani Volcano. While on the road, we will cross La Reserva Nacional de Vicuñas de Pampa Cañahuas and the small towns of Vizcachani and Sumbay. Then we will visit Sibayo, a town that still preserves Incan and Colonial architecture. Here, we admire the Incan terraces and the valley. Lunch Boxes. Afterwards, we embark to visit the thermal baths of the Valera. Lodging.

Day 2 Colca’s Valley – Arequipa

Breakfast. Early Morning we leave to see the largest flying bird in the world: The condor. After lunch at a local restaurant, return to the city of Arequipa.

Transfer to Arequipa Airport for the flight to Lima or bus station.
